HEALTH BRIEFS: Week Of Dec. 31

The Milpitas Community Education Endowment is hosting its second annual Black Tie fundraiser Dec. 7 at Ta Restaurant, located at 90 S. Abel St.

The fundraiser begins at 6 p.m. and will feature performances by the Milpitas High School jazz band and choir. Proceeds will benefit both musical groups.

The Milpitas Community Educational Endowment is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Milpitas public schools. The endowment’s goal for the Black Tie event is to raise at least $5,000, which would put it over the $100,000 mark for the year.

Tickets for the Black Tie fundraiser are $75, or $700 for table of 10, at http://www.mceefoundation.org/black-tie-holiday-fundraiser.html.

Pet adoptions

The WeCare Alliance, made up of the Humane Society Silicon Valley and a group of five other Santa Clara County shelters, is offering $20 adoptions for all adult cats and dogs through Dec. 31.

The Humane Society’s Animal Community Center, located at 901 Ames Ave., is among those participating in the alliance’s “Home for the Holidays” program.
