Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said residents could take a test for cervical cancer for free at community health centers (Puskesmas) throughout the city.
“We will assist residents via the Health Agency. All [Puskesmas] will be ready if residents want to take the test for early detection of cervical cancer,” Anies said Tuesday, as quoted by tribunnews.com.
He added that the city administration had complete facilities and assured residents that they would not be charged to take the test at a Puskesmas.
In Jakarta, the cervical cancer death rate was 14 percent, according to the administration.
Jakarta Health Agency head Koesmedi Priharto said to check for the cancer, the agency used visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA).
“We’ll keep disseminating information about this,” Koesmedi said. (wnd)
