PLENTY of us feel the pinch when it comes to skin creams and other beauty products.
You don’t need to spend a fortune to look good.
Try homemade remedies, such as a nourishing banana, oat and milk face mask.
Below are more tips to look good for less.
Elisa Roche, beauty addict and digital writer for Fabulous magazine: “At 40, a top skincare concern should be protecting your radiance by wearing a good SPF — minimum factor 15, even in winter. In pharmacies, look for a French brand called Avene, which starts at around £10. A budget option for less is Garnier Skin Naturals UltraLift day cream with SPF 15, which is as good as anything in higher price brackets.”
Sun Saver Tiff Lancaster, 46, from Southsea, Hants: “I use an unscented vegetable soap, such as the Co-op’s own brand for less than £1. I also use a £1.79 coconut oil from B&M to moisturise my skin and hair, and remove eye make-up.
It usually lasts me three months — and it’s a natural SPF 4.”
CJ Calvert, male beauty and lifestyle blogger who runs Desert Island Skin: “Go for the best product you can afford. Forget about the brand. Instead, look at the ingredients for shea butter, hyaluronic acid and plant oils to feed and nourish the skin. Try to avoid parabens and mineral oil as these are cheap bulking ingredients that can irritate the skin.”
Sian Victoria, queen of vintage and lifestyle blogger: “Go for moisturisers with vitamins A and C, as they are a game-changer.
“For daytime, I recommend The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 23% + Ha Spheres serum for less than £5. It’s lightweight and feels lovely. Plus, it gives skin a healthy glow.
“For night, my cult beauty product is Derma E Anti-Wrinkle Vitamin A Retinyl Palmitate Cream for £10 from Biovea. It helps give a more youthful appearance and renews skin cells.”
